Georgia Fits You – Whatever Type You Are

Georgia Fits You – Whatever Type You Are — GTP blog

Not Everyone Moves to Georgia for the Same Reason

In our daily work at Georgian Tax Partners, we speak with people who at first glance have nothing in common. One is 30, works remotely for clients in Germany and is looking for an affordable, uncomplicated base. Another is 52, has sold her company and wants to live somewhere her money goes further. A couple is considering emigrating with two children and wonders whether Georgia is family-friendly. A retiree from Austria wants to know if he can spend his retirement years here.

They all end up in the same place: Georgia.

And that is no coincidence. Georgia is one of the few countries in the world that is simultaneously tax-attractive, affordable in daily life, culturally rich, and bureaucratically straightforward. But what makes it specifically right for each type of person is always a different story. Here are the most common ones.

The Digital Nomad: Freedom with Structure

He works from his laptop, has clients on three continents, and is tired of spending nine months a year thinking about tax optimisation models that barely work. He is looking for a country that simply lets him work – with decent infrastructure, fast internet, a vibrant city and taxes that do not require a second look.

Georgia gives him exactly that. With Small Business Status he pays 1% on his turnover – no complicated structures, no years of waiting for approvals. Tbilisi has fibre-optic internet, dozens of coworking spaces, an international community and restaurants.

EU citizens can stay visa-free for up to 365 days – year after year.

Daily life costs him perhaps €1,500 per month – including accommodation, food, transport and leisure.

What he needs from us: Small Business Status registration, tax filing, bank account.

The Entrepreneur: Growing Without the Brakes

He already has a company – or wants to found one. Perhaps an agency, perhaps an IT company, perhaps an online shop. He has had enough of the state holding out its hand every quarter before he even knows whether he has made a profit.

In Georgia, his LLC pays corporate tax only on distributed profits – not on turnover, not on reinvested capital. What stays in the company stays tax-free. And if he operates in the IT sector and serves exclusively foreign clients, he can register as a Virtual Zone company – and pays 0% corporate tax on those revenues.

What he needs from us: LLC formation, Virtual Zone application, ongoing bookkeeping, tax optimisation.

The Family: Building a New Home

They have two children, a dog, and have had enough of school and housing costs in Germany. They are not looking for adventure – they are looking for a normal life that simply feels more affordable.

Tbilisi regularly surprises families. The city is safe, the streetscape is family-friendly, and parks and green spaces are found in every neighbourhood. International schools – in English or German – exist and cost a fraction of what comparable schools charge in western Europe. Health insurance is affordable.

Georgia’s territorial tax principle means: income from abroad remains tax-free as a rule. A family that continues earning from Germany or Switzerland while living in Georgia benefits enormously.

What they need from us: Residency relocation, tax residency, school advice, everyday setup.

The Investor: Returns Where Others Haven’t Looked Yet

He has capital and is looking for markets that are not yet overheated. He saw Istanbul – too late. He saw Lisbon – far too late. Now he is looking east.

Batumi and Tbilisi are two of the few European-Middle Eastern cities where property prices are still at a level that enables real returns. A two-bedroom apartment in Batumi with sea views from $75,000, rented via Airbnb in summer – returns of 8–12% are not the exception.

Foreigners may purchase property in Georgia without any restriction. No special status, no minimum investment, no permit required. The purchase process is transparent and fast – notary appointment, registration, done.

Added to this: those who invest in Georgia and establish tax residency benefit from one of the most favourable tax systems in the region – with double taxation agreements with Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

What he needs from us: Tax residency, property law, company formation for investment purposes.

The Retiree: Living Well for Less

He has worked his whole life, built a decent pension – and finds that it barely covers life in Germany or Austria. In Georgia, that same pension provides a comfortable, dignified life with household help, good food, travel, and still something left over.

Tbilisi’s climate is mild – four proper seasons, but without the extreme winters of the north. Those who prefer the sea move to Batumi – subtropical, relaxed. Healthcare is affordable by western standards, and private doctor’s visits cost a fraction of German health insurance contributions.

EU citizens can live in Georgia visa-free. Those who wish can apply for longer-term residence status through a property purchase or company formation. And Georgian society treats older people with a respect that many retirees are no longer accustomed to at home.

What they need from us: Tax advice on pension taxation, residency relocation, residence law.

What They All Have in Common

As different as these people are – they all share the same moment: the moment they truly understand Georgia for the first time. When they realise it is not a compromise. That you are not giving something up here – most of the time you get more, for less.

A more affordable life. Lower taxes. Genuine hospitality. A city that is alive without being overwhelming. Nature that takes your breath away. And a tax system so simple that you can barely believe it is real.

At Georgian Tax Partners, we know all these stories. We have accompanied them – from the first conversation to the first Lari in a Georgian bank account. And we know: Georgia suits more people than most imagine.

Perhaps it suits you too.

Talk to us. We listen, ask the right questions – and find out whether and how Georgia fits your life. Free, no obligation, in German or English.
